Black & Beautiful in Boston is an event that celebrates Black beauty and mental health. The event will feature lectures, workshops, and panels from Black mental health professionals and beauty influencers. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned Black mental health professionals and Black beauty influencers. It will also includes performances from Grammy nominated artists and other special guests.

Whether you're a hairstylist/barber/MUA looking to expand your skills and knowledge, a mental health professional interested in exploring new approaches to therapy, or simply someone who wants to learn more about the fascinating connections between haircare and mental health, this PsychoHairapy Symposium is an event you won't want to miss.

  • The event will be held at the African Meeting House, located at 46 Joy St, Boston, MA 02114. It is easily accessible by public transportation (Bowdoin on the Blue line or Charles/MGH on the Red line) and there is also parking available at Mass General for those who choose to drive. We highly recommend using ride share (Uber/Lyft).

  • The event will start at 11:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM. It is recommended that attendees arrive early (by 10:45 am) to ensure they have enough time to explore the various exhibits and eat brunch.

  • Yes, tickets are required to attend the event. They can be purchased online in advance or at the door on the day of the event. It is recommended to purchase tickets in advance to avoid long lines and ensure availability.

  • The dress code for the event is casual, but attendees are encouraged to wear clothing that represents their personal style and celebrates Black culture. We encourage you to take tons of pictures!

  • Yes, there will be food and drinks available for all guests for brunch, which ends at 11:30am. There will be a lunch break from 1:30-2:20pm. There are many food options on Cambridge Street. If you purchase a VIP experience ticket, you will be provided a catered lunch with the guest speakers onsite.

  • Yes, children are welcome to attend the event if they are 12 and older.

  • Yes, the African Meeting House is fully accessible to those with disabilities. There are ramps and elevators for the main floor and sanctuary space. If you require special accommodations, please contact the event organizers in advance to ensure your needs are met.
